Religious Affairs: Golden Umbrella Hoisting And Consecration Ceremony

A ceremony to hoist the golden umbrella and diamond orb atop the SakKyar PanDaung Pagoda and consecrate the Pagoda took place on Thursday.

Present on the occasion at ThetThar PanDaung Village of Pwintbyu Township in Magway Region were members of the Sangha, Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla as well as many other high-ranking officials.

The Senior General and the congregation received the Nine Precepts, listened to Parittas, presented the diamond orb, Ngemyatnadaw, golden umbrella and offertories to the members of the Sangha. They also listened a sermon and shared merits gained.

The Senior General and wife and party conveyed the diamond orb and Ngemyatnadaw and went round the pagoda clockwise, and hoisted them atop the pagoda with the decorated carriage, and performed ritual of gold and silver showers. Members of the Sangha consecrated the pagoda.

The Senior General and party offered offertories to the Buddha Image at the Pagoda, ceremonially opened the Lives of Buddha Inscription. They also planted a Maha Bodhi Tree in the Pagoda compound before offering meals to the members of Sangha.
