Religious Affairs : Fifth Plenary Meeting held in Yangon

The first day of the fifth plenary meeting of the Ninth 47-Member State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee was held at the Wizaya Mingala Dhamma Thabin of Thiri Mingala Kaba Aye Hill in Yangon on Friday.

The meeting was attended by members of the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee led by the Presiding Nayaka Sayadaw of Thanlyin Min Kyaung Pahtamapyan Monastery, Dr Bhaddanta Candima Bhivamsa. Union Minister for Religious Affairs U Tin Oo Lwin and relevant officials were also present.

Before the meeting, the Union Minister presented religious books donated by the President and his family to the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Sayadaws. Chairman of the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee presided over the meeting with the Ovada Katha recitation.

The Union Minister then submitted religious matters for the consideration of the Sayadaws. During the first session, the Sayadaws presented reports on Vinicchaya, religious and education affairs.
