Regional Development: Oil Mill, Lacquerware and Water Supply Project Inspected

Union Minister for Cooperatives and Rural Development U Hla Moe on January 11th visited Anawrahta Oil Mill in NyaungU of Mandalay Region.

The mill is run by Nyaung U Cooperative Association, and it has been distributing good quality edible oil to the consumers with rasonable prize since 1971. Over 90 viss of oil have been sold out daily and earned over 900,000 kyats monthly net profit. The Union Minister also inspected the lacquer wares and handicrafts industry of cooperative associations. On arrival at Laquerware Technology College (Bagan) under the Small-scale Industries Department, the Union Minister stressed to make networking for job creation.

Two years and one Year Diploma Courses have been conducting in the college. Moreover, 8 short-term training including Japanese lacquerware technology and bamboo art, are also conducted. Cooperation has been made with the Laquerware Technology Universities from Japan, Thailand and Italy.

The Laquerware Museum is also opened with the displays of 456 different lacquerware items. The Union Minister and party later inspected digging of tube well in JanHlee Village under the Rural Water Supply Project, being implemented by the Rural Development Department.
