








The Chinese Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs (MARA) organized the Global Poverty Reduction and Development Forum in Beijing on May 27 and 28. A Myanmar delegation led by Union Minister for Cooperatives and Rural Development U Myo Zaw Thein attended the forum together with representatives from 54 countries.
At the opening ceremony, Chinese Vice Premier Liu Guozhong delivered the keynote address.
During the forum, the Global Partnership for Poverty Reduction and Development Alliance (GPPAD) was officially established to promote cooperation, rural development, and sustainable poverty reduction among member countries.
Union Minister U Myo Zaw Thein delivered a speech at Sub-Forum 3 on Social Equity and Inclusive Development. He highlighted Myanmar’s efforts in rural development, energy, education, healthcare, socio-economic development, and the cooperative sector, while reaffirming Myanmar’s commitment to sustainable poverty reduction and inclusive development through international cooperation.
On May 28, the Myanmar delegation visited Pinggu District in Beijing to study China’s rural poverty reduction projects, modern agriculture systems, clean energy use, and rural development programs. The delegation also exchanged views and experiences on sustainable rural development. The Myanmar delegation returned to Yangon on May 29.
