Reconstruction Works : Progress of renovation in Mandalay and Sagaing

Chairman of the Supervisory Committee for Building Renovation and Reconstruction, Union Minister for Construction U Myo Thant inspected the reconstruction of earthquake damaged staff housing in Mandalay and Sagaing on November 8th.

The Union Minister and party also inspected the completion of renovation works at Ayeyawady Bridge (Yadanabon) and load test progress. During the inspection, the Union Minister heard reports on construction of 26 staff housing by the officials from the Department of Urban and Housing Development, Mandalay City Development Committee and Myanmar Developer Association (MDA) and gave necessary instructions.

At the Ayeyawady Bridge (Yadanabon), the Union Minister and party instructed on continuous preservation of the bridge for long-term durability. The Ayeyawady Bridge (Yadanabon) was affected by Mandalay earthquake and replacing works for Bracing and Gusset Plate was completed.

At present, passenger vehicles, 12-wheeler trucks load capacity of 25 tonnes are allowed for passing.   And, tasks are underway to renovate original structure of the bridge. The Union Minister later proceeded to construction site of Nan Oo Myo Thit Staff Housing in Sagaing, heard reports by the officials on construction of 7 buildings and gave necessary instruction. There, the Union Minister and party also inspected the earthquake damaged buildings.
