Reading Festival: Shan State CM opened the festival

The opening ceremony of festival for accelerating reading habit co-organized by Myanmar Libraries Foundation, Information and Public Relations Department and the Department of Education was held at Basic Education High School (1) of Taunggyi Township at 9 AM on 17th January.

At the ceremony, the festival for accelerating reading habit was opened by Shan State Chief Minister U Aung Zaw Aye, State Minister for Social Affairs U Aye Hlaing, Vice Chair of Myanmar Libraries Foundation U Ohn Maung (Myinmu Maung Naing Moe) by cutting the ceremonial ribbon and the Chief Minister provided cash of honor for the School Drum Corps and PomPom Dance Group.

At the second part of cermony, the Chief Minister U Aung Zaw Aye gave an opening speech saying that the fundamental source of this festival is the library, library is a place where the people get into habit of reading from a library and pursuing knowledge. Library is a bank of knowledge and education.

It’s appreciated with organizing such festival to use library and accelerating habit of reading. Next, the Vice Chair of Myanmar Libraries Foundation U Ohn Maung (Myinmu Maung Naing Moe) gave a remark and the Chair of Shan State Libraries Foundation Daw May May Ni clarified regarding with the festival for accelerating reading habit.

Then, Chief Minister, Chief Justice of State High Court, State Ministers, State Advocate General, State level departmental officials looked round the reading and memorizing ability contest of the students, reading ability contest, impromptu talk contest, essay contest, poem reciting contest, Sarpay Beikman book store, student’ funfairs and food stands. During the festival for accelerating reading habit, writer She (Ingyin) and U Ohn Maung (Myinmu Maung Naing Moe gave litrary talk and the festival will be held from 17th to 19th January, it’s reported.
