Rakhine State Trip: SAC Members Call For Ancient Heritage Conservation

Members of the State Administration Council (SAC), Union Minister U Maung Maung Ohn and Deputy Minister U Zaw Aye Maung discussed systematic conservation of ancient cultural heritage during their visit to Mrauk-U of Rakhine State on Thursday.

During the visit, the SAC members observed ancient architecture and cultural heritage at Koethaung and Shitthaung stupas. There, they urged officials to appreciate and conserve the 1,000-year-old language, literature and cultural heritage of the Rakhine people.

They also visited the museum and viewed artifacts. They called for systematic preparations to catch tourist interest and conserve the cultural heritage. They also visited Pawtawmu Yanpyay Manpyay Pagoda and Sandamuni Pawtawmu Sutaungpyae Maha Kyan Pagoda built by King Sanda Thuriya Sakka.

Also, they met with the ethnic culture associations of Rakhine, Mro, Khami, Dainet and Thet and called for open discussions on challenges in respective areas including ethnic literature conservation.
