Rakhine State Day: Commemoration Ceremony Held In Sittwe

A commemoration ceremony for the 47th Anniversary Rakhine State Day took place in Sittwe on Wednesday. Members of the State Administration Council Mahn Nyein Maung, Day Aye Nu Sein and U Maung Har, Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn and officials attended the ceremony, together with the Rakhine ethnic people. The ceremony commenced with the Rakhine traditional dance, followed by the reading of message, sent by Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing.

Chief Minister Dr Aung Kyaw Min later gave a commemorative speech. The honorary awards were also presented to the winners of outstanding performance in administration and agro-business sector, as well as essay and painting competitions.

Union Minister U Maung Maung Ohn also donated 1,500 DVB T2 Set Top Boxes to the townships and villages in the State. Rakhine State Day commemoration ceremony has been held since 1975 along with the performances of traditional dances by Mro, Khami, DaingNet, Thet and Rakhine tribes.
