Pyidaungsu Hluttaw Session: 6th day of 2nd regular session held

The sixth day of the Second Regular Session of the Third Pyidaungsu Hluttaw was held at 10:00 a.m. today, 7 July, in the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw Chamber of the Hluttaw Complex in Nay Pyi Taw. Of the 560 Hluttaw representatives entitled to attend, 553 were present.

In accordance with the agenda, a message sent by the President concerning provisions of the 2008 Constitution that should be amended or supplemented was presented to the Hluttaw and duly placed on record.

The Speaker of the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw then sought the approval of the Hluttaw for the formation of the Joint Coordinating Committee on Parliamentary Development (JCC). The committee was approved and formally constituted with 16 members, including U Maung Maung Ohn as Chairman, U Hla Thein, representative for Bago Region Constituency No. (10), as Vice Chairman, and U Zaw Hein, Permanent Secretary of the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw Office, as Secretary.

The Hluttaw then continued discussions on a motion relating to ASEAN submitted by Dr. Nanda Hla Myint, representative for Kalaw Constituency. The motion was debated by U Soe Kyaw Naing, representative for Kyunhla Constituency; Daw Mar Lar San မာလာဆန်း, Hluttaw representative for Shan State constituency No. (2); U Aung Kyaw Thu, representative for Mahlaing Constituency; Daw Mi Mi Kyaw Tun, Hluttaw representative for Kachin State constituency No. (4); U Than Aye (aka U Tin Oo), Region Hluttaw representative for Tanintharyi Region constituency No. (10), U Hla Myint, representative for Madaya Constituency; Daw Omma Htay, representative for Mawlamyine Constituency; U Kyaw Nyein Aung, representative for Tachileik Constituency; and U Zaw Zaw Myint, Hluttaw representative for Rakhine State constituency No. (11), it’s reported.
