Russian President Vladimir Putin is expected to meet with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi Monday.

Putin made his first visit to India in 2000, seven years after his predecessor Boris Yeltsin. His meeting with India Premier Atal Bihari Vajpayee set up a tradition of annual Russia-India summits with the last one taking place in Vladivostok in 2019.

In its concept of foreign policy, Russian considers its relationships with India as a special and privileged strategic partnership.
