Pulling back the tower of castle

Hirosaki Castle is undergoing a process call “Hikimodoshi” where the castle tower is being pulled back to its original location.

The castle tower had been moved to a temporary site about 70 meters away in 2015 to have large-scale repairs done to the stone walls. The repair work completed 2 year ago, and the operation to return the castle tower to its original location has entered full swing last month. The event is taking place until the 30th of August, with approximately 4,000 participants. The castle tower is scheduled to return to its original location in November.
