The Department of Cooperatives under the Ministry of Cooperatives and Rural Development provided paddy strains and fertilizers to Shwe Zeyar Agricultural Cooperative Association members and tractors to cooperative society members in Ottara Thiri Township and the presentation ceremony was held at Thu Kha Yadana monastery in Sein Sarpin model village in Zeyathiri Township on Thursday.
At the event, Union Minister for Cooperatives and Rural Development U Hla Moe said that the Ministry is providing strains, water, input and technical assistance for achieving agricultural tasks of farmers through cooperative system in cooperation with relevant ministries and private entrepreneurs. If the consumption of input fertilizers are reduced, the use of forein currency will be decreased and also it can prevent soil depletion and production cost.
If the organic fertilizers made with natural raw materials are used extensively, the cultivated lands will improve in long-term and the crops will become healthy food products.
The Union Minister called for working together to ensure regional food security by using effectively paddy strains, natural fertilizers and agricultural equipment donated at the ceremony for the interests of the society and the country.
The Union Minister presented HsinThukha paddy strain and natural fertilizers to ShweZeyar Agricultural Cooperative Association and the deputy minister and officials presented tractors to cooperative society members. In the ceremony, 12 tractors, 3 harvesters, 250 baskets of HsinThukha paddy strains and 900 bags of Sanwati natural fertilizer were provided.
The Union Minister and party then met with rural people and fulfilled the needs and inspected tractors provided to farmers who are cooperative society members. They then observed scattering of natural fertilizers into the paddy plantations.
