

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation has designated the area of 8,400 acres in Gantgaw Township, Gantgaw District in Magway Region, as “Paw_Lal_Wat_Chi_Par protected forest” as of 8 August 2022, under Notification No 120/2022 by exercising the authority conferred under Sub-section (e) of Section (6) of the Forest Law promulgated in September 2018.
The “Paw_Lal_Wat_Chi_Par” protected forest is intended to conserve the watershed area available water for the agricultural lands of local people living surrounding, fulfill the needs of local people and protect biodiversity.
The “Paw_Lal_Wat_Chi_Par” protected forest is not only a place where various kinds of wood and valuable trees such as teak, ironwood, Ingyin, Yinmar trees grow as well as a habitat for wild animals such as barking deer, wild dog, wild cat, wild fowl, wild boars, rabbit, monkeys etc. including birds such as wood pecker, quail, francolin, dove etc.
It is necessary to manage forest resources systematically, and it is also a watershed area of Paw_Lal creek flowed into Myittha River. Thus, the area is declared a protected forest area.
