The ceremony marking the completion and commencement of operations for two research and technology projects aimed at developing Myanmar's agricultural sector was held at the Centennial Hall of Yezin Agricultural University on January 5. The two projects are the "Dryer and Dryer Building Project" and the "ACARE Knowledge Bank Project" under the Mekong-Ganga Cooperation framework. Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation, Dr. Tin Htut, attended the ceremony and delivered an address.

In his address at the ceremony, the Deputy Minister Dr. Tin Htut expressed special gratitude to the Government of India, the Embassy of India in Yangon, and the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations for their assistance in the successful implementation of the projects. He stated that India is a crucial partner nation that has long cooperated with Myanmar in political, economic, human resource, and research collaboration, including in the agricultural sector.

Subsequently, Ambassador of India, Mr. Abhay Thakur, remarked that the success of these two projects, implemented under the Mekong-Ganga Cooperation strategy, is a clear example of the enduring economic and technical cooperation between the two countries. He stated that the Indian Government will continue to support Myanmar as a partner in modernizing and developing its agricultural sector, promoting rural development, and enhancing human resource capacity.

Following that, video clips documenting the project implementation process were shown, and representatives from both countries exchanged gifts and took commemorative photos.

Afterwards, the Deputy Minister and officials from the Indian Embassy visited the Rice Bio-Garden Division under the Department of the Agricultural Research, where the Dryer and Dryer Building Project has been implemented. They officially opened the project's commemorative plaque.

Then, they toured the ACARE Knowledge Bank Project facilities at the Advanced Center for Agricultural Research and Education (ACARE). They inspected the progress of research activities in the departments under the center, including the Teaching, Dissemination and Capacity Building Department, the Novel Gene Sources Department, the Post-Harvest Technology Department and the Collaborative Knowledge and Management Department, it’s reported.
