Procurement Committee: Procurement Committee For COVID-19 Held Meeting

The coordination meeting of the Procurement Committee for Medicines and Medical Equipment on COVID-19 Prevention, Control and Treatment was held at the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations, Nay Pyi Taw in the afternoon on January 5.

At the meeting, the committee chairman union minister U Aung Naing Oo clarified the coordinations with the relevant countries to import and distribute the required medicines, medical equipments, especially Oxygen generators, liquid oxygen, treatment medicines for the prevention, control and treatment during COVID-19 third wave and the ability to contain COVID-19 to some extent thanks to the drawing plans in priority for import/export matters, transportation and custom clearance issues by each subcommittee.

Next, the committee secretary deputy minister for health Dr. Aye Tun explained the implementations by the committee for the procurement of vaccines and medical equipments including treatment medicines for COVID-19 prevention, control and treatment, status of financial expenditure and vaccination.

Then, the committee members discussed the conditions regarding the procurement of medicines and medical equipments for the continuation of momentum in COVID-19 prevention, control and treatment measures, status of receiving assistances provided by the development partner countries and organizations, matters for further procurement of necessary medicines and medical equipments required for the current domestic infections and the future plans to be implemented by the committee.

The meeting was attended by Committee Chairman Union Minister for Investment and Foreign Economic Relations U Aung Naing Oo, committee members deputy ministers, chairmen of subcommittees, heads of departments and representatives from related fields.
