Prince Charles, Camilla visit Heart Garden in St John's

Prince Charles and his wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, were visiting Canada on a three-day tour to mark the 70th anniversary of his mother’s ascent to the throne.

As part of their visit and engagement with local Indigenous communities, they visited Government House, the official residence of the Lieutenant Governor of Newfoundland and Labrador Judy Foote.

On the grounds of Government House they visited a Heart Garden, one of many monuments honoring the memory of Indigenous children lost as a result of the residential school system.The first Heart Garden was built at Rideau Hall in 2015.Since then Heart Gardens have been planted throughout the country, including the one visited by the royal couple on Tuesday.
