Press statement: UEC released a press statement

The Union Election Commission released a press statement regarding the scrutiny of the submitted candidate lists on September 23.

In the statement, it’s described that in the multi-party democracy general election to be held on December 28, 2025, various political parties and independent parliamentary candidates competed by submitting their lists of parliamentary candidates to the respective commission branches from September 8 to September 22, 2025.

A total of 57 political parties including 6 political parties to run nationwide, 51 political parties to run within each Region and state and 4,963 parliamentary candidates, including independent candidates, submitted their lists to compete. It is announced that the scrutiny of the submitted candidate lists is being carried out at the respective commission branches from September 23, to October 4, 2025.
