Chinese President Xi Jinping announced the official opening of the newly built mega Beijing Daxing International Airport on Wednesday. The Beijing Daxing International Airport is a landmark project decided on and promoted by Xi to achieve the two "centenary-goals" and the great renovation of the Chinese nation.

Sitting at the junction of Beijing's southern Daxing District and Langfang, the new airport is expected to handle 45 million passengers annually by 2022 and 72 million by 2025. It is also aimed at taking pressure off the overcrowded existing Beijing Capital International Airport in the northeastern suburbs. With an investment of 450 billion yuan, the airport has a complex combining four runways, 268 parking stands and a 143-hectare terminal. With multiple transport methods, the airport is the most advanced large transport hub with the highest level of integration in the world. The airport is covered by 5G network and has advanced facilities.
