President Jokowi releases carbon storage regulation

Indonesian President Joko Widodo released a presidential regulation on the development of carbon capture storage (CCS) implementation on 31st January. The contractors will coordinate on the changes with ministers on environment and forestry, as well as maritime affairs and fisheries.

As a pioneer in the CCS regulation implementation in ASEAN and first rank in Asia according to global CCS Institute, Indonesia has established the legal foundation for the CCS. The government has issued various regulations on CCS, including the energy minister regulation on CCS in oil and gas downstream industry, the presidential regulation on carbon economic value and, the financial services authority regulation on carbon trading through IDX carbon.
