Vice Chairman of the State Administration Council Deputy Prime Minister Vice Senior General Soe Win on Thursday afternoon addressed the voter list compilation meeting for election.

In this meeting at the State Administration Council in Nay Pyi Taw, the Vice Senior General said that the meeting was  to focus on avoiding mistakes related to the last 2020 election and to successfully hold a free and fair multi-party democratic general election. He also expressed efforts for issuance of National Registration cards which is important for election.

As the first step to make the voting lists correct, the statistics related to Naing 4 have been made accurate. According to the statistics collected from the start of issuance until the last, there are more than 52 million.

There’re more than 1 million National Registration cards with number but without complete information. Such issues occurred for various reasons and are very dangerous issues for the country and its’ e-Government system.

The Vice Senior General added that as the 2nd stage, the total number of issued lists was found to be more than 13 million when form-66/6 was checked by software technology after verifying the national registration cards by computer system.

In verifying those Form-66/6 household lists, the lists of people who died, people who have arrived abroad for various reasons and those who have been accepted as foreign citizens have also been found.

There are more than 22 million people who only have their family name in the household list and do not have national scrutiny cards. More than 14 million people over the age of 18 did not fill out the national registration numbers in the form 66/6.

It is found that these facts may be the errors made by humans as well as the weaknesses of the staffs and relevant stakeholders to provide information in a timely manner.

In implementing the third stage, led by the Chief Ministers in regions and states, registration, checking, amending and collecting the list on the ground will be implemented as quick as possible in cooperation with the Election Commission, the Department of Immigration Population and the General Administration Department, the computer experts and social organizations plus security members.

The Vice Senior General stressed the needs on collecting the correct voter lists in regions and states for the successful holding of a free and fair multi-party Democracy General Election, the correct data for e-ID system and describing the 4 types of people with disabilities in collecting the lists on Naing-4 and 66/6 forms.

Later, the attendees reported on matters for collecting voter lists for the election and sector-wise implementations on which the Vice Senior General gave necessary instructions. The meeting then ended with concluding remarks by Vice Senior General Soe Win.
