Preparations for Election : MEVM voting training and trial voting held in Hakha

A training session on the use of Myanmar Electronic Voting Machine (MEVM) and a trial voting demonstration was held in Hakha District Office on September 11.

Chin State Chief Minister Dr. Vung Suan Thang attended the event, and made a speech, saying that the upcoming multi-party democratic general election on December 28 is an important national goal. He emphasized the need for government staff to carry out their responsibilities effectively and for polling officers to become skilled in using the MEVM, which helps ensure fair, accurate, and transparent voting. MEVMs are designed to be simple, only slightly more advanced than a calculator, and have been tested with 99.99% accuracy.

Advantages include preventing vote fraud, fast and accurate counting, and no calculation errors. A central-level trainer from the Union Election Commission, gave hands-on training on the use of MEVMs and guided participants through trial voting.
