A workshop for reviewing education policies was held at the Meeting Hall of Office No. (13) of the Ministry of Education in Nay Pyi Taw on Monday.
Union Minister Dr. Chaw Chaw Sein attended and delivered the opening address. First, the Union Minister stated that the Ministry of Education has many established policies. Just as there are education-related policies, there are also policies concerning the promotion and transfer of teachers serving under the Ministry of Education.
This workshop is being held to understand and comprehend these policies. She mentioned that the policies to be drafted must align with the motto "Let's Promote Education for National Development," which is the guidance of the Head of State. She expressed her belief that by identifying weaknesses through this discussion, they could collaboratively draft the best policies that would become strengths.
She noted that promotion and transfer matters will be conducted twice a year, in May and October. She urged everyone to cooperate in formulating the best policies from the workshop, aiming for educational development and based on the outcomes emerging from the discussions.
Following this, the Director-General of the Department of Higher Education, Dr. Than Zaw Oo, explained the policies related to the promotion and transfer of university teachers/lecturers for the higher education sector. Subsequently, participants split into groups to collaboratively discuss finalizing the policies, and each group presented their findings and recommendations.
Afterwards, Directors-General, Rectors, Deputy Directors-General, and Pro-Rectors reviewed the policies concerning the promotion and transfer of university teachers/lecturers, held collective discussions on the findings and recommendations, and drafted the promotion and transfer policy (draft). It is reported that this workshop for reviewing education policies will be held over two days, from September 29 to 30.
