Peru declared health emergency in 20 of its 25 regions starting on 27th February, due to a severe dengue fever outbreak, said Chief of Staff Alberto Otarola.

17,965 cases of dengue have been confirmed, said the Health Minister, who adds that the unusual heat wave and the absence of winter over the past year have created a perfect scenario for the spread of this disease.
