Performing good deeds: Fish releasing and paying respect ceremonies in Keng Tung

The fish releasing ceremony was held at Keng Phaung creek in Keng Tung, eastern Shan State on the 1st Day of Myanmar New year.

At the event, Sayadaws and monks led by Presiding Sayadaw of Thila Dhamma Dhama Kone Tha monastery, the Commander of Triangle Region Command, the Chairman of Shan State Governing Body (Shan East) and departmental officials released 6,500 fish into Keng Phaung creek.

The paying respects ceremony to elderly people then took place at the city hall where member of the State Administration Council U Sai Lone Hsaing, the Commander of Triangle Region Command and officials paid homage to 20 grandpas and 27 grandmas and provided 30,000 kyats each and other items worth 10,000 kyats each.

Attendees also donated cash for grandpas and grandmas. Moreover, mobile medical teams of 300-bed No.3 military hospital of the Triangle Region Command and No.12 Field Medical Battalion and specialists, doctors and nurses from Keng Tung People’s Hospital and Traditional medicine treatment center screened medical tests to them and gave free medical treatments.
