Peace Process : NSPNC and SSPP meet in Nay Pyi Taw

The National Solidarity and Peace-making Negotiation Committee (NSPNC) and the Shan State Progress Party (SSPP) held a meeting in Nay Pyi Taw on Friday.

NSPNC Chairman Lt-Gen Yar Pyae said the SSPP was the first group to meet with the committee after the peace invitation issued on April 21, 2026. He said the meeting was the second discussion since the new government took office, following previous engagements between the two sides.

SSPP Vice Chairman (3) Sao Say Pang Fa  also expressed hope for positive outcomes from the discussions. He reaffirmed the SSPP’s commitment to self-determination, peaceful coexistence and building a federal democratic union.

He said political issues should be resolved through political means and stressed that peace and stability are essential for regional development.

The meeting covered cooperation on peace and stability, socio-economic development, education, healthcare, regional development, drug control, online crimes, cross-border issues and improving communication services in the WanHai  area.

NSPNC Secretary Lt-Gen Min Naing also discussed the SSPP’s proposals on education, health and regional development. Both sides then agreed to record the discussions and signed the meeting minutes.
