Paying Homage to Elders: SAC member attends ceremony in Sittwe

An annual ceremony to pay homage to the elders in Sittwe of Rakhine State took place on the New Year Day, on Sunday.

Member of the State Administration Council (SAC) Daw Aye Nu Sein, Rakhine State Chief Minister Dr. Aung Kyaw Min and many other officials as well as the elders and well-wishers attended the ceremony.

This year, Rakhine State Government, Paying Homage to the Elders in Sittwe Organizing Committee and a family donated 40,000 Kyats each to 1,110 elders aged 80 and above. In Sittwe, the annual ceremony to pay homage to the elders began in November 1963.
