Para Games: Goalball para sports athletes trained

Myanmar Paralympic Sports Federation is training goalball para sports athletes to participate in the 11th ASEAN Para Games to be hosted by Indonesia in June 2022.

An official of Myanmar Paralympic Sports Federation said they have recruited and selected para sports athletes in 4 methods.

Dr. Kyaw Soe (Medical Officer), Myanmar Paralympic Sports Federation said “The 1st method is we select the youths from Disability Organizations in regions and States under the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs. The 2nd is …we train disabled athletes from the Schools for Blind and Deaf under the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement. We also recruit the athletes from INGOs and NGOs, Disabled People' Development Organizations and the Blind Associations. The final one is we select the athletes by training to Tatmadaw officers and other ranks who have lost their limbs in the battles.”

Po Po Aung (Coach), Myanmar Paralympic Sports Federation said “We give trainings twice a day in the morning and afternoon. As they are the recruits, we train them step by step. We need to train a lot them.”

4 coaches are training 5 goalball selected athletes and 6 athletes from other sports who will participate in 11th ASEAN Para Games at the Sports Training Center for Disabled Persons.
