Palestinians were seen buying and selling food at markets in Gaza City as prices fell sharply following a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas.

The truce, now in its third day, precedes a planned hostage-prisoner exchange and a regional summit aimed at promoting peace after two years of conflict. Local traders reported that food prices have dropped by as much as 70 to 80 percent, with supplies such as flour and canned goods returning to the shelves.

Many residents who had fled to southern Gaza have begun returning to their homes as markets reopen and goods become more widely available. Humanitarian groups say the ceasefire has allowed for the resumption of trade and aid deliveries, offering temporary relief to civilians after months of shortages and high prices.
