Pakistan's parliament is to dissolve ahead of the expiration on August 12 of its five-year term. Elections are expected in October, with a caretaker government due to take over in the interim.
The country’s prime minister and opposition leader Raja Riaz Ahmad will have a meeting to finalize the name of a caretaker prime minister, who will choose his cabinet for a period of three months or until the formation of the next elected government.The country's most popular politician, former Prime Minister Imran Khan, has been barred from politics for five years.
