In honour of 79th Union Day, the opening ceremony of the one-mile asphalt road from Ward (8) in Kalaw Township to Taryaw-Ywarthit-Shweminphone Pagoda-Taungpeit Village was held in the ward on January 28.

At the opening ceremony, Shan State Chief Minister U Aung Aung stated that before 2020, local residents faced difficulties traveling between villages and transporting local products to Kalaw and Aungban Townships. However, with the new road, they will now be able to travel conveniently at any time, and their socioeconomic conditions will improve. He also urged local residents to cooperate and contribute as much as they can to the construction of inter-village roads and bridges for regional development.

Following this, a local resident expressed words of gratitude, and the asphalt road was officially opened with a ribbon-cutting ceremony performed by Shan State Chief Minister U Aung Aung, the Commandant of the Command and General Staff College (Kalaw), State Minister for Security and Border Affairs, the State Minister for Transport, and local resident U Maung Kham.

Afterward, the Chief Minister and officials sprinkled scented water on the road's commemorative stone inscription. The Director of the Shan State Development Affairs Office, U Ye Lwin Oo, presented commemorative trophies to the Chief Minister, the Commandant and state ministers, while a local resident presented regional products. The Chief Minister and officials then inspected the asphalt road.

Subsequently, the Chief Minister and officials visited the construction site of the concrete bridge over Nanthe Creek on the 15/4-mile road from Ward (11) in Kalaw Township to Nantaing Village. They also inspected the project to restore the Kalaw Railway Station building in its original form within Region (4), Kalaw region, and the fencing work at Kalaw People's Hospital. Responsible officials provided explanations on these projects, and the Chief Minister gave necessary additional instructions regarding the work, coordinating and collaborating with relevant departments.
