Online e-Visa Service: 175 applicants granted permission as of April 20

Online e-visa service has been resumed with effect from 1st April this year for business visa application in accordance with the COVID-19 rules and regulations, and as of April 20th, 175 have been granted permission.

Since resuming the operation, a total of 693 applicants have been submitted, and among them, 339 are under scrutinizing process, and 179 are asked to apply again due to incomplete information.

Director, Immigration and Border Management Division, Aung Thiha said "There are 693 applicants from 55 approved countries and received 39,501 US dollars as the state revenue. For online e-visa, 175 have already been scrutinized and granted permission for e-Visa. And among the remaining applicants, 179 had to apply again due to incomplete information, and 339 are under scrutinizing as they have submitted complete information."

Online e-Visa system was launched in 2014 but it was suspended on 20th March 2020 due to COVID-19 disease.

For the benefit of the country, the service was reopened for foreigners on the evening of 1st April.

Director, Immigration and Border Management Division, Aung Thiha said "Applying for an e-Visa requires company invitation letter, company registration certificate and health travel insurance. Among those who had to apply again due to incomplete information, there are 7 people suspected for listing on the blacklist. There are also 115 applicants who cannot submit the invitation letter and 57 who do not have health travel insurance."

Myanmar has also resumed the commercial flight services on April 17, and a total of 11 passengers, 10 from China and one from Australia, have arrived using by e-Visa.
