Oil and Natural Gas Production: Well No. CDT-15 from Chauk/LanYwa oil field inspected

Union Minister for Energy U Myo Myint Oo together with officials from departments and enterprises under the Ministry inspected drillingand producing natural gas from well No. CDT-15 from Chauk/LanYwaOil field in Magway region on Monday.

At the Myanmar Oil and Natural Gas Enterprise in Chauk, the Union Minister and party cordially met with oil field workers from Chauk/ LanYwa oil field and gave encouragements.

Later, the Union Minister looked into tissue banana plantations in Chauk Oil Field guest house. They then looked into well no. CDT-15 in Pho Kone  area of Chauk/LanYwa Oil Field.

At the briefing hall of the oil field, officials reported on production of oil and natural gas, plans for boosting production of oil and natural gas and difficulties in drilling well No. CDT-15.

In response to the reports, the Union Minister discussed prospects for drilling wells in Chauk Oil field and called for the effective use of produced oil and natural gas.

They then inspected test burns of natural gas produced from well No. CDT-15.The Union Minister also provided fruit baskets and honoraria to workers who contributed their efforts for drilling the well.

Well No. CDT-15 was drilled on 30th June 2022 and reached the target depth of 7,920 ft on 19th September 2022 and is producing about 8 barrels of crude oil and 0.5 million natural gas per day.

The produced natrual gas will be supplied to Chauk-Sarkhar-Paleik-Kyaukse pipeline. Myanmar Oil and Natural Gas Enterprise could drill well Nos. CDT-13,  CDT-14 and CDT-15 in Chauk/LanYwa Oil Field during 2022-2023 fiscal year as well as 14 wells with joint venture company. It is learned that 808 barrels of crude oil and about 1.87 million natural gascould be produced per day.
