Nurturing Young Athletes: 225 Trainees Will Be Trained In 22 Sports

Institute of Sports and Physical Education (Yangon) under the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs held opening ceremony of sports and education practicing for 2022-2023 academic year on Monday.

Institute of Sports and Physical Education accepts admission from the Grade-9. A total of 225 trainees will be trained in 22 sports in this year to support the sport sector.

AungNaingSwe, Principal, ISPE (Yangon) said “Children have to be proficient in both sports and education. In addition, we train the children to develop their own personality. To become athletes who can take pride for the nation, they need good ability in sports but also good morals and obedience. When playing sports, they have to follow the rules & regulations of each competition. For this reason, we have been training our students to be disciplined and have team work.”

The Institute has been established since 1997-1998 academic year to emerge new generation of brilliant young athletes and it turns now 25 years. It also accepts Grade-7 and 8 students for Wushu, Gymnastics and Swimming sports. All subjects are taught according to the curriculum. 

HninPwintHlaing, Student, ISPE (Yangon) said “I have been attending for 3 years since 2019-2020. I play track and field and my desire is to become a selected athlete to hoist my country’s flag among the internationals.”

In this 2022-23 academic year, the Institute of Sports and Physical Education selected up to 225 students including old classes and offers 22 sports training in track & field, jumping, football, wushu, boxing, judo, karate, taekwondo, weightlifting, archery, shooting and so on.
