Following a powerful 7.7-magnitude earthquake that struck near Flores Island in eastern Indonesia on August 15, the number of injured people jumped sharply to nearly 1,200 as continuous aftershocks kept residents terrified to return home.

Over 40,000 residents are displaced across affected regions, as reported by the country disaster mitigation body (BNPB). Authorities said that emergency supplies, including food, clean water, and tents, are being dispatched by the BNPB and national police.
