North Korea will temporarily ban foreign tourists due to the spread of a deadly new coronavirus in China, a foreign tour operator said on Tuesday. The vast majority of tourists to North Korea come from China. An adventure travel company based in China said in a statement that North Korea will temporarily close its borders to all foreign tourists as a precaution against the virus, which has rapidly spread from the Chinese city of Wuhan.

The North's state-run television KRT on Tuesday reported on countermeasures to prevent the virus and showed health officials holding meetings. There is no report on confirmed cases in North Korea. China's National Health Commission said on Wednesday that 440 people in 13 Chinese provinces were confirmed to be infected with coronavirus as of Tuesday, with nine deaths.
