Residents who had fled to neighbouring Cameroon returned to the border town of Kirawa in northeastern Nigeria after attacks by Boko Haram fighters.

The town, left damaged and largely deserted, slowly came back to life as displaced families rebuilt their homes and livelihoods. Local authorities supported by regional security forces, launched efforts to restore stability and basic services. The return marked a cautious step toward recovery in an area long affected by insurgent violence.

Farmers and herders called for stronger security measures to ensure they could safely work, trade, and send their children to school. Reconstruction projects and humanitarian aid were coordinated to help families resettle. Officials said restoring security remained the top priority to sustain the return of displaced people.
