Health workers were making headway Tuesday in vaccinating hesitant residents of a rual Fulani community. Medics have been up against false theories about the COVID-19 vaccine, including that it's a tool to thin out the Fulani population and that it causes impotency.

But mobile teams are helping local communities to overcome the myths and boost vaccine uptake. Officials have set an ambitious goal of vaccinating more than a quarter of the population by the end of February. According to the National Primary Health Care Development Agency, authorities managed to administer 100,000 jabs a day last year. Around 4% of those eligible for the jab have been fully vaccinated in Nigeria.
