New-generation farming device provides Chinese astronauts with fresh vegetables

China's new-generation space-based vegetable cultivation apparatus allows for the appropriate temperature, humidity and nutrition required for plant growth, laying a solid foundation for future large-scale planting in space with crop rotation technology.
The "space garden" or cultivation device in the China Space Station has a modular and open structure designed by researchers at the China Astronaut Research and Training Center. This innovative system allows the Shenzhou-16 crew to grow and enjoy fresh vegetables like lettuce, scallions and cherry tomatoes in orbit.
