









A new 8-storey pediatric treatment building was opened at the 550-bed Children’s Hospital in Mandalay on Saturday.
Union Minister for Health Professor Dr. Thet Khaing Win, along with Mandalay Region Chief Minister U Myo Aung and officials, attended the ceremony, and formally opened the building.
After the opening, the Union Minister and officials inspected departments of the new building, including the emergency and outpatient departments, laboratory and radiology units, operating theatres, pediatric wards, and training and meeting rooms. They also gave instructions for smooth hospital operations and patient transfer.
The new building was constructed with government funding starting in the 2020–2021 fiscal year and is designed to improve specialized pediatric healthcare services, including intensive care, surgery, orthopedics, cardiology, and neonatal care.
Later, the Union Minister and party visited Mandalay General Hospital, and observed work processes at the cancer treatment ward, chemotherapy unit, and diagnostic departments. They also inspected the Dental Specialist Clinic (Kantaw Nadi), where modern dental services such as fillings, extractions, implants, and digital zirconia crown production are being provided. It is learnt that the dental clinic operates daily using modern digital equipment to provide continuous patient care.
