Nepal mudslide death toll rises

The death toll from a deadly mudslide triggered by an ice-rock avalanche in Nepal on August 26 has surpassed 1,350.

According to the latest figures released by police, 1,353 bodies had been recovered on Sunday. So far, 9,159 injured people have been rescued following the disaster. Of those rescued, 3,190 have been safely accommodated at a holding center. Authorities have also stepped up efforts to identify the bodies through DNA testing.
