N. Korea leader and daughter at construction ceremony

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un appeared at a ground-breaking ceremony for a new showpiece construction project together with his daughter, state media reported early Sunday. Since late 2022, Kim has frequently appeared at big events with his daughter.

It is the third new construction project in the suburbs of Pyongyang in three years. For decades, North Korean authorities have made spectacles of building new streets of apartment blocks in the capital, with completion often timed to anniversaries connected to the Kim family or the Workers’ Party.
