Myanmar Durian Festival 2026: MOALI UM delivered the opening address

The "Myanmar Durian Festival 2026" was held on the morning of May 19 at the Myay Padetha Garden in Bahan Township, Yangon Region.

Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Min Naung attended and delivered the opening speech. In his opening address, Union Minister U Min Naung stated that the "Myanmar Durian Festival 2026" is being organized with the aim of selecting and identifying marketable Myanmar durian varieties with good quality, aroma, taste, and high yield nationwide for increased export overseas, penetrating the market under the name of Myanmar durian, exchanging discussions on modern agricultural systems and post-harvest technologies, connecting domestic and international market information related to durian crops with international partner organizations, encouraging durian growers and entrepreneurs to cultivate and produce in accordance with Good Agricultural Practices (GAPs) and fostering a network involving growers from regions and states, private associations, researchers, and value-added product entrepreneurs to enable the Myanmar Durian Association to stand firmly and operate effectively.

Subsequently, the Director-General of the Agriculture Department clarified matters related to the holding of the "Myanmar Durian Festival 2026," presenting on the production status of domestic and regional countries, methods to improve durian cultivation and production, domestic market conditions, and future prospects of foreign markets. Afterwards, the Union Minister and guests toured and viewed the durian exhibition galleries, where they selected, evaluated, and awarded scores to marketable durian varieties with good quality, aroma, taste, and high yield. Following this, responsible officials from the ministry and relevant durian groups responded in detail to questions from the news media, it’s reported.
