Myanmar-Cambodia: C-In-CDS Held Talks With His Cambodian Counterpart

Chairman of the State Administration Council Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing held talks with Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces General Vong Pisen Wednesday afternoon through videoconferencing.

They cordially talked about common nationality and culture as well as Buddhism between Cambodia and Myanmar in the history of good relations, membership of CLMV and Greater Mekong Sub-Region, the full understanding of Cambodia to support the political progress in Myanmar and Rakhine issue, the full cooperation of Myanmar in respective sectors with Cambodia in serving the alternate chairmanship of ASEAN, unity in ASEAN countries, needs of all ASEAN countries to abide by the ASEAN Charter, and possible impacts of violating ASEAN Charter by some ASEAN countries upon all member countries.

They also discussed diplomatic ties and friendly relations between the two countries and two armed forces, holding of the dialogue to enhance the friendly relations, situations to further beef up the cooperation in regional peace and stability issues.

 The talks focused on the invitation to the Chairman of the State Administration Council Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services and senior military officers to personally attend the 19th ASEAN Chiefs of Defence Forces’ Meeting and related ASEAN meetings to be held in coming March in Cambodia in addition to goodwill visits of two countries and the two armed forces, and a plan to exchange the visits of naval vessels between the two navies of both countries.

The Senior General urged Cambodia in its term of ASEAN chairmanship to implement the common interests of ASEAN countries without strings attached in line with the ASEAN Charter.
