Mulletfest Celebrates iconic Hair Style

Australia, In the old mining town of Kurri Kurri, Mulletfest has both a fun and serious side. Devotees of the dubious eighties cultural hair icon gather in the town each September. And it's proving to be something of an economic success. Attracting interstate and even international visitors.

The rivals in the kids section are just warming up. The aim of the game is not just how wear it.  Like a real head of hair, Mulletfest just keeps growing. Heat in Kurri, Laura travels to country towns everywhere in search of the nation’s best mullet.

The finalists gather in Kurri each December. At the grand final last year, they were able to see mullets from every state in Australia as well as internationally. They had America, Belgium and the UK, so if that’s not a tourism injection, They feel like that’s a big tick on the goals list.
