MSME Development: Prime Minister met MSME businessmen in Myeik District

Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing met with MSME businessmen in Myeik District of Taninthayi Region on Saturday.

Chief Minister U Myat Ko reported on implementation of MSME businesses in the district and region, assistance being provided for development of MSME businesses and conducting training for technology.

The attendees also reported on the smooth process for rubber export, implementation of fish, prawn, cockle and pearl breeding, and technical assistance.

The Union Ministers explained the assistance being provided for MSME development, loan disbursement in line with the regulations, repayment of loan in time, prospects for foreign investments in Myeik District, socio-economic development of rural people, formation of cooperatives associations for successful implementation of agriculture works, conservation of mangrove forests and successful implementation of fish and prawn breeding, rattan industry and pearl breeding.

The Prime Minister discussed that the government is encouraging the development of MSME industry in order to remedy the economy impacted by COVID-19 and to promote the state economy. If the MSME products were promoted, it could substitute the imports and will increase export products.

He stressed to prioritize the production of agriculture and livestock products. He added that Taninthayi Region has many forests and mangrove forests coverage stands rank-3 globally, which is essential for fishery resources. He called for conservation of mangrove forests, and urged all to strive for regional development with the use of existing resources.

The Prime Minister later viewed the displays of marine products, foodstuff, commodity goods, industrial goods, traditional handicrafts, clothes and medicines.
