The United Nations reported that over 100,000 people fled eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) in less than three months due to escalating violence. The conflict, particularly in North Kivu, Masisi and Walikale territories, forced civilians to seek refuge in neighbouring countries.

Eujin Byun, UNHCR spokesperson said "In less than three months, the number of Congolese fleeing to neighbouring countries from eastern DRC has surged past 100,000 already. Ongoing hostility in North Kivu, particularly in Masisi and Walikale territories, along with the extreme volatile security situation in Bukavu and surrounding areas in South Kivu, have forced hundreds of thousands of civilians to flee again. "

The violence, primarily driven by the Rwanda-backed M23 armed group, triggered widespread instability, heightening concerns about a broader regional conflict.
