Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called for collective public participation to help India navigate global economic uncertainty, rising energy costs and supply chain disruptions. Addressing concerns linked to the ongoing global energy crisis, Modi urged citizens to reduce petrol and diesel consumption by increasing the use of public transport, car-pooling and electric vehicles.

He also encouraged greater adoption of work-from-home practices, virtual meetings and online conferences to reduce unnecessary travel and fuel consumption. The Prime Minister stressed the importance of conserving foreign exchange at a time when global fuel prices remain high. He also appealed to citizens to reduce non-essential foreign travel, including overseas vacations and destination weddings, suggesting that people explore destinations within India instead.
