Modi hails government efforts to combat coronavirus

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised his government's effort to fight the COVID-19 death rate low in the country with one of the highest number of cases in the world. Speaking via web conference at the 3rd Annual Leadership Summit of India-US Strategic Partnership Forum, Modi said the outcome of "scaling up" of medical and testing capacities, has been a country with 1.3 billion people and limited resources has one of the lowest death rates per million in the world.

India is among the top three worst-affected countries in the world with more than 3.8 million confirmed cases of COVID-19. Relative to the number of cases, its reported total of more than 67,000 deaths compares well with other nations such as the United States, Brazil and Mexico.
