Mine Explosion: Terrorists planted mine on the rail bridge

Mine explosion occurred on 680 ft long iron frame Bridge No.263, (KhaPaung bridge) between Taungoo-ThaungTineKone stations of Yangon-Mandalay Rail section, Taungoo Township, Bago Region at 8:37 pm on 12th of March.

According to the report, security forces investigated the site and found the damage on pedestrian lane of the bridge. Due to the incident, Taungoo-ThaungTineKonerail section was temporarily closed at 6:00 am on Wednesday. Regional officials and local security forces conducted the investigation at the site in real time and also Myanma Railway staff examined the resilience of railway section immediately and re-opened the Taungoo-ThaungTineKonerail section at 7:25 am on 13th of March.

It's reported that there was no serious damage due to the explosion. Since Yangon-Taungoo rail section is under renovation, up/down train operations rely on KhaPaung Bridge at present. Therefore, the schedule for cargo and passenger train would be postponed if the explosion left major damage on the bridge.

The terrorist insurgents intentionally launched mine attack to harm the commodity flow of the region. Since 1st February 2021, the insurgent groups have committed (130) times of mine planting/destructions in the area of railways and rail stations, (50) times of mining rail bridges and (12) times of setting fire on station building and staff houses.
