Military Gallantry Awards: SSPC Chairman C-in-CDS presented Gallantry Awards

The ceremony to confer military gallantry awards was held in the afternoon of January 4 at the Zeyar Thiri Beikman in Nay Pyi Taw. The Chairman of the State Security and Peace Commission Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services, Senior General Thadoe Maha Thray Sithu Thadoe Thiri Thudhamma Min Aung Hlaing, attended, delivered a speech, and presented the gallantry medals.

First, in his honorific address, the SSPC Chairman Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services stated that independence is a priceless treasure for the entire people of Myanmar. Therefore, the annually recurring Independence Day is the most noble and pride-worthy auspicious occasion for all citizens.

Every time this auspicious Independence Day arrives, military gallantry awards are conferred upon all brave heroes who have striven and served to uphold the state's independence and sovereignty. At today's ceremony as well, those who served with full courage and bravery, prioritizing the heroic code over their own lives and bodies for the perpetuation of the state's independence and sovereignty, will be conferred military gallantry awards.

Every year on the occasion of Independence Day, military gallantry awards are conferred upon those who have performed difficult duties that are hard for ordinary people to undertake, with complete self-sacrifice and risk, fulfilling them thoroughly. In today's ceremony, in accordance with good traditions, 51 recipients of the Heroic Service Medal will be honored.

Although not awarded, the Senior General also wished to acknowledge those who are diligently fulfilling the assigned duties and objectives for country’s defense in their respective positions. Furthermore, he urged that along with good traditions, the value and essence of independence, the qualities of courage, and the glory of soldiers, as well as the histories of Myanmar that have dignified the nation's historical prestige, be passed on to future generations.

He encouraged passing on this legacy so that new generations with fervent national blood and spirit emerge. Following this, the SSPC Chairman Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services presented awards respectively to the Heroic Service Medal recipients: 7 Colonels, 6 Lieutenant Colonels, 14 Majors, 4 Captains, 1 Lieutenant, 4 Master Sergeants, 1 Company Sergeant Major, 3 Sergeants, 5 Corporals, and 6 Lance Corporals.

Next, the SSPC Chairman Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services and members took a group commemorative photo with the officers, ranks, and heirs who received the military gallantry awards. Following that, the SSPC Chairman Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services and members hosted a tea reception for the recipients of the military gallantry awards.

Under the direction of the Directorate of Public Relations and Psychological Warfare, the Myawady Music Ensemble performed songs in their honor. After the ceremony, the SSPC Chairman Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services and his wife, along with members, warmly greeted to the recipients of the military gallantry awards, it is reported.
